The work of Mikko Paakkola is a must for anybody who enjoys pure painting. The intense colors are constructed in pigments to show a landscape which forms a panorama of absolute silence. The rude character brings up the Nordic light, the mysterious atmosphere of the midnight sun, but also the unique character of the flat Belgian landscape – the landscape which has strongly influenced the painter.
Mikko Paakkola (*1961) graduated from Turku School of Fine Arts (1981-85) and made his postgraduate studies In Paris, l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts (1988-90). He lived in Brussels 1996–2006. In the 2000s Paakkola’s work has been exhibited in many European galleries, in Belgium, Sweden, Holland, France and Germany.
